How old do I have to be to start Teen Online Driver Education?
Students must be 15 years old to start the All Star Teen Driver Education program and eligibility ends once they turn 18.
What does the Complete Teen Driver Education program include?
The Complete Teen program includes 30 hours of online training which is approved by the Indiana BMV, six hours of behind the wheel instruction and driving skills exam (road test).
How long is the online training program?
The program is 30 hours long and students are allotted a maximum of 180 days to complete.
Is there a program near me?
How much of the online program can I complete each day?
Online students are allowed to complete a maximum of 3 hours of online training per 24-hour cycle. Once the daily time limit is reached, you will not be able to work on the course again for the next 24 hours.
What if I am unable to complete the program in 180 days?
You must contact All Star before the 180-day period expires to arrange for an extension. To extend your class for an additional 180 days, a fee of $20.00 is required. This will enable you to continue your coursework without losing your progress. To request an extension, call 1.800.967.7719.
How and where do I start the course?
Access your program on the Student Portal. During the time of enrollment, the student credentials were emailed to the provided email address. Please check your email inbox for the credentials and login information (Subject line: Student Portal Login Credentials from [email protected]).
Is there a final exam?
Students must pass a final exam, and they have three attempts to achieve a minimum passing score of 80%. There must be 24 hours between each attempt at the final exam.
When will I get my Certificate of Completion?
The online program must be successfully completed to receive a Certificate of Completion. The minimum passing score on the final exam is 80%. Upon completion of the course your Certificate of Completion will be emailed to you within 24 hours.
What happens after I complete the 30-hour online program?
After completing the online program, the next step is to enroll in behind the wheel training with an authorized provider. Upon enrollment, you will receive a Certificate of Driver Education (CDE) from the driving school. Bring these documents, along with proof of residency and your social security number, to the BMV to obtain your permit. The CDE will be required to apply for the Learner’s Permit: Learner’s Permit Requirements.

Students must be 15 years old to start behind the wheel training.
What are the requirements to be able to do behind the wheel?
Students can begin behind the wheel instruction when they have obtained their permit at the age of 15.
Do I have to complete class and behind the wheel training with the same school?
Students do not have to complete both phases of training at the same school. Behind the wheel training can be completed at a school other than the school where you completed class.
Can I upgrade to a higher program later?
To benefit from the savings of the Combo Program and receive the discount, students must enroll in the Teen Combo program from the outset. No discount will be given if you add behind the wheel training later.
How do I schedule behind the wheel training?
After you have obtained your permit and complete the Driver Education class you can schedule behind the wheel training. You can schedule lessons on the student portal. What do I need to bring for my first driving lesson?
Students must present their original Temporary Permit and Certificate of Completion for Online Driver Education at the onset of the driving lesson.
How many hours of behind the wheel instruction can I complete each day?
Students may complete no more than two hours of behind the wheel training per day. Driving lessons can be one or two hours long, and students are required to complete six hours of behind the wheel training.
If I complete the online course and 50 hours of practice driving, can I apply for my license?
No. To be eligible for a license at 16 years and 90 days, your child must complete both portions of a driver education course: 30 hours of theoretical or online training, and 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training. All new drivers 18 years old or younger must complete the 50-hour driving log even if they have completed driver education.
How do I go about scheduling the Driving Skills Exam ?
If you have a learner's permit and have successfully completed driver training with All Star Driver Education, and are 16 years and 90 days of age, you may take the driving test with your All Star Driver Education Instructor who completed your Behind the Wheel training. You may also choose to take the skills exam at a branch when you apply for a driver's license.
If any of the following situations occur, you must take the driving test at a branch:
- Your learner's permit expires; or
- You fail to successfully complete your driver training program.
What if I drop out or want a refund for the program?
No refunds are issued after the start of class. All other approved refunds are subject to a $5 processing fee, can take up to 10 business days, are credited back to the card on which they were purchased and are issued only to the person who paid for the program. A full refund will be issued if All Star must cancel your course/program and cannot provide an acceptable alternative.
*No refund is due to students who have been expelled from an All Star program.
*There is a $30 return check fee for all returned checks.
