Am I eligible to enroll in the All Star Behind the Wheel only program?
This program is for students who have completed the required Online Driver Education program for teens (with another driving school or All Star Driver Education).
What are the age requirements to begin behind the wheel instruction?
You must be 15 and you must have your permit. What forms do I need to apply for my permit?
What is the Certificate of Driver Education Enrollment (CDE)?
To apply for your permit, you need a Certificate of Driver Education Enrollment, obtainable by enrolling in a full program covering both class and behind-the-wheel training or in a program focused solely on behind-the-wheel training. It will be issued by the school where behind the wheel instruction is completed.
How do I obtain my permit?
You can apply for your permit at the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles. You must provide them with your Certificate of Driver Education Enrollment, and you will have to pass a brief knowledge test.

Students may complete no more than two hours of behind the wheel training per day. Each driving lesson is one or two hours long, and students are required to complete six hours of behind the wheel training.
If I complete the online course and 50 hours of practice driving, can I apply for my license?
No. To be eligible for a license at 16 years and 90 days, your child must complete both portions of a Driver Education course: 30 hours of theoretical or online training, and 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training.
All new drivers 18 years old or younger must complete the 50-hour driving log even if they have completed Driver Education.
How do I go about scheduling the Driving Skills Exam ?
If you have a learner's permit and have successfully completed driver training with All Star Driver Education, and are 16 years and 90 days of age, you may take the driving test with your All Star Driver Education Instructor who completed your Behind the Wheel training. This is a separate service you can enroll for on our website. You may also choose to take the skills exam at a branch when you apply for a driver's license.
If any of the following situations occur, you must take the driving test at a branch:
- Your learner's permit expires; or
- You fail to successfully complete your driver training program.
