Michigan Seasonal Roads Close in November
Driving on seasonal roads in Michigan can be a challenge! For most people who have had to trek to their cabin up north they are familiar with the obstacles that can arise. Here are a couple of things to keep in mind when driving on these roads:

- Four Wheel Drive or AWD vehicles are best equipped for these road
- They are often dirt roads or even trail ridden
- They are not constantly maintained like a traditional dirt road
- Often they are narrow
Keeping these things in mind, it is essential to make sure you are using the right precautions when driving down these roads. Be aware of ice and water that can make these roads more difficult to travel. Watch for posted signs that usually warn of dangers or the mention that they will not be maintained or plowed. The road commission will not maintain these roads from November to April so be sure to understand which roads will be closed.
If you must drive on roads that are not maintained well, snow tires and four wheel drive is highly recommended. In some cases snowmobiles are a modes for transportation in very remote areas. Be sure to carry cat litter and use low gears for better traction.
