When can you start Driver Ed in Ohio?

How does Online Driver Education work for teens in Ohio?
Students will complete the classroom phase of their Driver Education program online. This typically involves studying course materials, watching videos, and participating in interactive online lessons. After successfully completing the online phase of training, students can then enroll in the behind-the-wheel training phase with a driving school of their choosing.
How long does it take to complete Ohio Online Driver Education?
The state of Ohio allows 180 days from the day you enroll to complete the online program. Online students are allowed to complete a maximum of 4 hours of online training per calendar day. It is mandatory to take a State mandated 10-minute break after every two hours of online learning.
Do I have to pass a test or exam?
Students must achieve a final written exam score of at least 75% to pass. No more than three attempts to pass the final exam are permitted by the state of Ohio. Students who do not pass the final exam after 3 attempts will be required to retake the classroom program at no cost.
Do I have to take Driver Education in Ohio?
Teens under the age of 18 are required to complete a Driver Education program to obtain a driver's license.
What if I do not have a Temporary Instruction Permit Identification Card (TIPIC)?
You can still enroll in the Ohio Teen Driver Education Online Only without your permit. You must, however, obtain your permit to begin behind the wheel training. To apply for your Temporary Permit, you must be at least 15 years and 6 months of age.
How do I obtain a Temporary Instruction Permit Identification Card (TIPIC)?
At 15 years and 6 months, you can complete the knowledge test online at the Ohio BMV-Online or go to any driver exam station to take the knowledge test and vision screening to begin the temporary permit process.
When will I receive my Certificate of Completion?
The online program must be successfully completed to receive an Online Certificate of Completion. The minimum passing score on the final exam is 75%. You will receive your Online Certificate of Completion no more than 5 business days from the time of completion, your Online Certificate of Completion will be emailed to you and uploaded to your student portal.
What do I do if my Certificate of Completion is lost or damaged?
Certificates of Completion are uploaded to the student portal for easy access, under the Student Files section, they are also emailed to you so you can save, and reprint as needed. (If you started class before. May 1st, 2022, a Request for Duplicate Certificate form must be completed and submitted/cost is $15).
What if I drop out or want a refund for the program?
No refunds are issued after the first day of class. All other approved refunds are subject to a $5 processing fee, can take up to 10 business days, are credited back to the card on which they were purchased and are issued only to the person who paid for the program. A full refund will be issued if All Star must cancel your course/program and cannot provide an acceptable alternative.
*No refund is due to students who have been expelled from an All Star program.
*There is a $30 return check fee for all returned checks.
