April is Alcohol Awareness Month. AAM is a national public health campaign aimed at reducing the harm caused by alcohol abuse, raising awareness about the dangers of alcohol abuse, and promoting legal responsible drinking habits. All Star Driver Education is proud to support and promote this campaign in hopes that people are educated and lives are saved. One of the key areas of focus during this month is the impact of alcohol on driving.
Drinking and Driving
Alcohol is a leading cause of traffic crashes and fatalities. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in 2019, 10,142 people were killed in alcohol-impaired driving crashes, accounting for 29% of all traffic-related deaths in the United States. It is important to educate all drivers about the dangers of drinking and driving, as well as provide them with the skills and knowledge they need to make responsible decisions behind the wheel.
What Does it Do?
All Star Driver Education has a portion of its driver education program dedicated to teaching students about the effects of alcohol on the body and brain. For example, students learn that alcohol impairs judgment, reaction time, and coordination, making it much more difficult to drive safely. Students participate in hands-on activities that allow them to simulate the effects of alcohol and its effects on their driving abilities. They are also taught about the legal blood alcohol concentration (BAC) limit, which varies by state but is typically 0.08%.
Join Us in Saving Our Communities
Drunk driving and underage drinking are serious issues that can have life-altering consequences for individuals, families, and communities All Star’s program covers the penalties and consequences of drinking and driving, such as fines, license suspension, and even jail time. Proper education can help deter people from consuming alcohol before the legal age of 21 or making the risky decision to drink and drive.
AAM is an important opportunity to raise awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving. This campaign aims to reduce the number of alcohol-related crashes and fatalities by teaching everyone about the effects of alcohol on the body and brain and providing them with the skills and knowledge they need to make responsible decisions behind the wheel. alcohol awareness month is a critical time to focus on educating drivers, especially young drivers, about the dangers of drinking and driving. Through education and awareness, we can work together to prevent alcohol-related crashes and promote safe driving practices.
