By now, you’ve probably heard about the Coronavirus, or COVID-19, and how it is rapidly spreading across the world. As society doubles down in preparation for the virus’ impact, events, businesses, and schools are shutting down. As of right now, many states have shut down schools for 2-3 weeks. More states are expected to follow their lead.
With a large number of people staying at home, it can seem to some like a big family vacation full of TV, video games, and snacks. However, it is important that we not lose sight of our goals and continue to be productive. Despite the virus, life needs to go on.
What are ways to stay productive during the COVID-19 outbreak?
- Even if school is canceled, find ways to deepen your knowledge about subjects you are passionate about. Online education sites like Khan Academy, IXL can still keep you on track with your academics. Most libraries have a digital section where you can download eBooks and magazines. Pick up a book about an interesting topic, or watch a documentary about something you’ve always wanted to know.Â
-

- If you work, try to work from home. You can build professionalism and contribute to your career from home, even if it might be a bit more restricted.Â
- Keep your body healthy! It’s still possible to exercise indoors – do some floor work exercises or dance around the house. Our bodies need movement, and staying at home isn’t an excuse to ignore that. There are many online follow-along videos with great exercise techniques!Â
- Continue to work on personal projects that you can do from home. Maybe you have a blog you’re working on or some artwork that you started months ago but never finished. Now’s the time to pull out your personal projects and bring them to life!
Although the Coronavirus has put a halt to our regular schedules, it is important to continue being productive and working towards goals. Stay safe but also stay productive!
