Need Ohio adult drivers ed? If you’re an adult in Ohio who needs drivers education but you’re not sure which class is right for you, fret no more. Here are the differences between the three courses that we offer for adults in Ohio.
1. Ohio Abbreviated Adult Driver Training Course — Online
If you have failed your first attempt at the maneuverability or road portion of the driving test and you are at least 18 years of age, then the Ohio BMV requires you to take a four-hour Abbreviated Adult Driver Training Course before attempting the driving test for a second time. You are also required to take four hours of behind-the-wheel training with a licensed instructor through a licensed Abbreviated Adult Driver Training school. All Star offers both of these classes in Ohio, which you can purchase separately or together as a combo package. A certificate will be issued at the end of the online class proving that you completed and passed the course.
The All Star Guarantee: we are so sure that you will pass the Ohio Abbreviated Adult Course the first time, that if you don’t, you can take it again at no additional cost!
2. Ohio Remedial Driving Course — Classroom
The Ohio Remedial Driving Course is mandated by the state of Ohio for the reinstatement of suspended licenses or for the removal of points from your driving record. This eight-hour course meets the requirements for a 12-point license reinstatement, a reinstatement for operating a motor vehicle after underage consumption and a two-point credit in Ohio. It’s also a great option for individuals who are looking for a refresher drivers ed course.
Please bring the following to class:
- A valid photo ID
- Your driver’s license number (you can obtain this from the BMV by calling (614) 752-7500 or by visiting the BMV website)
- If you’re taking the course to satisfy a BMV requirement, you will receive documentation that you can return to the BMV upon completion; please bring this!
A certificate will be issued at the end of this class proving that you completed and passed the course.
Many insurance companies recognize the value of this course and offer discounts to those that successfully complete the class. Contact your insurance carriers to see if discounts are available.
3. Ohio Adult Driver Education — Online
This course is the first step for international students, U.S. immigrants or adults in Ohio who want to get an Ohio driver’s license. Take this class before taking the driving test in Ohio. The class is designed to help you understand the rules of the road, regardless of your driving experience. It will provide you with basic information about driving and it’s for learning and practice purposes only. We offer this course to help you gain the knowledge and confidence to get behind the wheel of a car. Created by educators, the online curriculum prepares you to anticipate, avoid and survive hazards out on the open road. Six hours of behind-the-wheel training with an instructor is also a part of this class. There is no certificate for this class as the state doesn’t require it.
