Can you take the Ohio Adult Abbreviated Class Online?
Yes, the 4 hour class is available to take online with All Star Driver Education. It is 100% online and can be taken from anywhere you have a device and internet.
What are the requirements to enroll in an online Adult Abbreviated course?
All students must be at least 18 years old, and must have failed their first road test. All students who fail their first road test are required to take an Abbreviated Adult course.
Our program will consist of reading content and videos that will provide you with the knowledge you need to improve your driving skills for life.
What is the Ohio Abbreviated 4 Hour Class?
Starting July 1, 2017, any adults (18+ years old) who have never held a driver’s license before and who have failed their first attempt at the maneuverability and/or road test are required to take an Abbreviated Adult Training Course. All Star Driver makes this process more convenient and easily accessible!
How long is the Adult Abbreviated online course?
The state requires you to complete a four-hour long course. This is the required minimum time in order to receive your certificate. That is a cumulative time, you do not need to sit down and finish it all in four straight hours if you do not want to.
How long do you have to complete the course?
You can go at your own pace, but the state requires you to complete it within 90 days from the day you begin.
What is required to pass the Ohio Abbreviated Online course?
Students will need to complete the entire online program, along with passing all Module/Topic quizzes, fully viewing all visual aids, and must receive a 75% to pass the Final Exam. In the case that a student fails their Final Exam, they will have three (3) total attempts to take it, but are required to wait a minimum of 24 hours between each attempt.
If you fail all three final exams when taking the course with All Star Driver, you can retake the class at no additional charge.
How do I get my completion certificate?
The DMV only allows your certificate to be mailed to the address you provided. Your certificate will be mailed once you complete your final exam. All certificates will be mailed at no additional charge to the address listed on your account. Please double check the address on your account (record tab) to eliminate any possibilities for error.
How can I get my certificate quicker?
If need be, you can choose to have your certificate priority mailed (2-3 business days) for an additional $30.00 or overnighted for an additional $75.00. If you are interested in these options, please call our office at your earliest convenience at 734-665-7374
How can I find out if my certificate has been sent?
You can check the status of your certificate in the record tab on your account. It will be sent to the address located there. The certificate is being sent USPS regular mail (they estimate 7-10 days)

How old do I have to be to start Ohio Teen driver education?
You can be 15 years and 5 months to begin your driver education course. However, please remember you will not be able to start your behind the wheel hours until you have your temps.
What age is driver education required in Ohio?
It is required for anyone under the age of 18.
Do you need to have an Ohio temporary permit to take an online class?
You can still enroll and take classes before receiving your temps. You will, however, have to obtain your temps before participating in the “in-car” portion of driver’s education. Once you have it, we can pair you with an instructor in your area.
How does online Ohio Teen online driver’s education work?
You will just need to create an account on our website, pay, and submit all of the paperwork necessary. Once all forms are submitted, you will have full access to your course.
You can now start your course. The All Star Driver program is like no other, as we have created a fun and unique curriculum to take the dull out of Driver Education. Throughout our course, we use videos, pictures, graphs, and quizzes to keep students engaged and ensure they absorb the important information. Your course is divided into nine Modules; each Module contains different Topics, or sub-categories that will focus on specific information pertaining to the theme of the Module.
When you have completed two hours of instruction in this class we will issue you a Certificate of Enrollment. You legally need to have this Certificate of Enrollment to start your eight hours of behind-the-wheel instruction with a certified driving school. The school should require this certificate to begin driving with any student.
After you complete all nine Modules and pass all of the Module Exams, you will be able to take the Final Exam. If you fail the Final Exam, you will have two additional attempts to pass it. You must pass the Final Exam with a score of at least 75% to earn your Certificate of Completion from All Star Driver Education.
All Star is so confident you will pass the class on the first attempt, that If you don’t, we will let you retake the class at no additional cost.
The All Star Certificate of Completion verifies that the student has completed the state required in-class instruction for driver education. You will need this for your eight hours of behind-the-wheel instruction will require the Certificate of Completion in order to begin classes. The student will also receive a Certificate of Completion from the behind-the-wheel instruction and will take these documents to the DPS when taking the test for an Ohio Driver License.
How long can students work on an Ohio Teen online course?
The state allows you to work on the course for up to 4 hours per 24 hours. If you hit that 4-hour mark, you will be logged out of your class and have to wait 24 hours before you can log back in.
How long will this course take to complete?
That depends on your individual pace. In Ohio, all drivers’ education courses must be at least 24 hours. You can always go at your own pace and log in and out at your convenience. Keep in mind, the state of Ohio only gives 180 days to complete the entire program.
The state of Ohio allows you 4 hours per 24 hours. If you need to step away for any reason, please make sure you log off your account. If you do not log off your time will still run even if you are not actively working on your course. Once you hit your 4 hour time limit you will be locked out and will need to wait 24 hours from your last login before you can work on your course again. We recommend you work until you get logged out for the day. Otherwise, any remaining time will count towards the next day.
What does it mean when my account says “pending.”
We require an Ohio Online Contract signed by both parent and student through DocuSign. You will be able to do this on your account. The state also required a Parent Verification. Parent Verification can be completed online, but we also have a form that can be notarized and sent in if that is easier. Any documents can be scanned or photographed & attached to this form. If you do not have access to email, you may mail the document(s) into our corporate office at 75 Aprill Drive, Ann Arbor, MI 48103. Keep in mind, the quicker we receive the documentation, the quicker you will have access to your course.

What do I do if my certificate is lost or damaged?
If you lose your certificate, you can contact our office to request a duplicate by calling 800-967-7719. The cost for a duplicate certificate is $15. The State of Ohio also requires a Duplicate Request form to be filled out and sent to us before processing. We will need to collect that fee and form before the new certificate is made and mailed.
